Jökulsárlón lake, Iceland

Considered the deepest glacial lake in Iceland, Jökulsárlón Lake which lies south of the Vatnajokull glacier (meaning Glacier of Rivers) , stretches over an area of 18 km2. It has become a major tourist attraction of the country following the shooting of a film in the James Bond saga, “A View to a Kill” in 1985.

Jökulsárlón lake houses a large colony of seals that find refuge on the pieces of iceberg that broke away from the glacier. Despite the comings and goings of tourists strolling on amphibious vehicles, seals seem to keep their composure and come to rest.  More breathtaking pictures here…
